How much does it cost to get your hair dyed?

Q. I really want my hair dyed with a demi-permanent dye. I have long thick hair. About how much could I expect this to cost? Thanks!
I am planning on going to a salon since its my first time dying my hair.

A. it really does depend on the salon. if you go to a smaller salon you'd probably only pay around £30/40 but if you went somewhere more professional you could be looking at £70+
just pop into your local salons and ask for a price list :)
although ive found if you only want a semi permanant dye you're probably best of getting a home dye kit. ask a family member or friend whos dyed their own hair before to do it for you :)

How much would it coast to get my hair dyed ombré styled at a salon?
Q. I'm going to be getting my hair done at coven boutique. Would it coast less than getting all of my hair dyed?

A. Without seeing the texture & current condition of your hair? Call them, and ask.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. Watch Victoria Newman on the Young & the Restless (her dyed blond hair had been growing for months & months), now Chloe on Y&R has two-tone hair, and another on Entertainment Tonight, she's one of the correspondence. Chloe Kardashian, Drew Barrymore & Guiliana Rancic (btw, she just had double mastectomy), Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Bilson,Jennifer Lopez (when she's not wearing hair extensions) have had their hair done like that (letting their highlights fade) for years! The other night, I even spotted Ivanka Trump's hair, she's letting her hair grow naturally on the Apprentice. They call that look ombre hair color darker roots, lighter ends but colorists sees that fading. Women are wanting dimensional color with natural highlights that look like they've been playing out in the sun.

Is it safe to have my hair dyed tommorow if I just had my hair dyed today?
Q. Just had my hair dyed bleach blonde, they dyed it twice, I dont like it, and I have a job interview on saturday. I want it dark again, will it be too damaging to my hair to get it dyed again tommorow, and if so, when is the soonest I could have it done?

A. You want it dark again? No.
You can do one of two things, to remove most of that dye.

1. By using Tide detergent with shampoo
http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Dye-from-H

or

2. By shampooing you hair mix with a bit of Dawn.
http://www.ehow.com/how_2139523_use-dawn

Here's an example what hair stripping will do to your hair.
It is worst than hair dyes.

Google hair dyes & cancer also. There are those who tan & smoke all their lives & do not get cancer, but there are those 2nd hand & 3rd hand smoke who do and are currently on oxygen because they can't breath or have cancer. Same with hair dyes.

Source(s):
I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.

Can I still have my hair dyed with irriated scalp?
Q. Hey

I am having my hair dyed tomorrow. I have little spots around my hairline and some of them have come open (itchy, couldn't help it). They are only small but I guess they are litte open wounds, Is it still OK to have my hair dyed? My stylist uses semi-permanant.
Hey guys they are just normal teenage spots!! I have them all over my face unfortunately :( But some appear around the hairline. It is not an allergy to anything.

A. It's not like it's going to kill you, but it will hurt. If you have a lot of sores, I would wait to get your hair dyed, or if you can't wait, I would just get lowlights, that way the dye is off your scalp and it won't come in contact with any of the sores.

What hairstyles are there for straight hair?

Q. I have naturally thin, straight hair and everyday I have my hair put up in a ponytail. It's boring seeing the same hairstyle everyday. Are there other styles I can try out that are quick and easy for me to in the morning?

A. you can curl your hair but it may take quite a bit of a time, put your hair half up, put your bangs or any hair that is like a bang up and leave the rest or you're hair down, put you hair in a bun, a sideways ponytail, 2 pigtails, braid your hair, braid you hair at night and take it out in the morning and leave it out for the day you will have waves and if you want you could spray it, and you could pull you hair back with a hairband, clip you hair to the side, these are the hairstyles i can think of for noww

How do you teach a child to love her natural hair?
Q. My 6 yr. old has waist-length curly (or kinky, whatever you prefer) hair. She is tender-headed and doesn't like to get her hair combed, although I cornrow it often. Her friends at school have perms, but our family choses to be chemical free. She understands that we don't believe in perms, but she constantly asks if she can have straight hair and hairstyles like the big girls on TV. I have flat ironed it a few times before, but it takes so much work (lots of tears, too!) and I don't want her to get caught up in that image. My husband and I try to surround her with positive images to appreciate (dreads, afros...), but "Hollywood" has always worked against us. I am afraid that if I put too much on it as far as saying no, that she will run even faster towards those other images that are not of her African American heritage. I have explained to her that when she is an adult it will be her choice as to how she wears her hair. What do I do?
PS- She understands that real beauty lies within.

A. just be calm with her and just find the time to play with her and when u do just do crazy things to her hair soo itll make her love her hair thats what my mom did to me

What is a good hairstyle for a 15 year old guy with straight hair?
Q. Ok so I am a 15 year old male with very straight hair. It's currently pretty long and I'm getting it cut in a few days.

What is a good hairstyle I could get? If at all possible, please post a link to a picture of said hairstyle.

Thank you in advance.
In response to the Pauly D thing, fuck that shit, I'm not a dumbass.

A. How bout you like cut it super duper layered up to your shoulders and have like side bangs in the front

what is the best hairstyle for straight hair?
Q. I have naturally pretty straight hair...what are some good hairstyles that I could do for school in the morning?

A. There are so many!

1) put the front of your hair up in a poof (like snooki, but not as HUGE), and then put the rest of it in a high ponytail! For an extra cool effect, you can get a thin piece of hair, wrap it around your hair tie, and then tuck it into the hair tie so that it looks like you tied your hair up with your own hair!

2) Make a small thin braid with some of your front hairs or bangs, and then pin them back so you have this pretty braid to make the look less plain.

3) Take two thin pieces of front hair and twist them, and then clip them together in the back in a sort of half-up half-down, but not really HALF, just a tiny little bit, and so that your bangs can still hang down.

4) make a tight fishtail braid (this actually works best with straight hair!) and bring it around to the side of your face.

5) take one side of front hair and make a nice neat braid, and then bring it around the top of your head like a headband, and pin it on the other side! Let the rest of your hair hang loose in the back!

How can you get straight hair natually? or cute hairstyles for curly wavy hair?

Q. I have ugly curly wavy hair and im annoyed trying to straighten it every day for school so does anyone know how to get natually straight hair or cute hair styles

I'm a male and want to give it a weighted down look with the straight look and without the frizzes. Is there any type of hair styling product I can use to fix this? What hair style should I get for med/long hair that is frizzy?

Q. I have med/long length hair. I don't know if I want to keep it long or cut it short. It gets very frizzy and bushes out at the crown. I do straighten it at times but would like a hair style that I wouldn't have to use a lot of heat on it. Also, it gets curly which I like but if I wash it and need it to dry natural, It takes forever to dry.

A. What you need to do is use a anti-frizz hair product. Try one from Aussie. You could also try using mousse. And try taking your time when you brush it so that there aren't very many broken ends. As for the length, try a few different hair styles until you find one that you like the best. Remember, it always grows back.

Q. I'm looking for a back to school type of hair style. My hair color is a dark brown (almost black). and I usually straighten it or put in a pony tail. I want to have a cute and "sexy" type of hair style. And it would be great if you could add a picture too!

What after care products should I use for chemicall straighten hair?
Q. Im a guy and Ive just straighten my hair- I had my short curly thick hair straighten but got no idea what brand shampoo/conditioner/ gel, hair paste or what eva styling products I should use for chemically straitened hair,

Im after products or products in Australia that I could buy that can take care of chemically straightened hair.

Also, are there other products that I should NOT use on my hair.

Sorry this is first time Ive straighten my hair.
Thanks

A. if you use chemicals to straighten your hair, then your shampoo/conditioner should be for chemical straightened hair. shampoo/conditioner bottles are labeled for each hair type....permed/relax/dry/damaged/spilt end control...you may have to play around with a few before you find the one you like...ganier fructis(probably spelled wrong) is really good

What are some good henna dyes that do not contain chemicals and dye hair?

Q. I want henna dyes that do not contain any chemicals and dye hair. I'm looking for the henna dyes that have different shades of color too.

A. Buy 100% body art henna and mix it yourself. Henna is completely natural. The only time it can contain chemicals is if you buy it pre-mixed. If you mix the right ingredients then you can change the natural henna red to different shades of reds, browns, and jet black.

I suggest you research henna a bit more before you put anything in your hair. I henna'ed my hair last year, but I mixed my henna myself, so I didn't buy it pre-packaged, and I know everything that went into my henna. http://www.hennaforhair.com has a free e-book with everything you need to know about henna, including how to properly mix it and why buying pre-premixed henna can have negative effects on your hair and scalp. They also have pictures of people who henna'ed their hair and the site sells henna and natural ingredients to change it to a different color, though it's much cheaper if you can get your henna locally. Real henna smells like hay.

Is it possible to dye hair in a checker board pattern?
Q. Is it possible to dye hair in a checker board pattern? Say...orange and green?
The reason I want to do this Is because I havent seen a lot of people with this type of hair color/style its all that emo junk I think this would be somewhat original

A. YES!! We did it to my hair during Cosmotology school. This was back in the 80's - so what we did is take the clippers and form the lines of the checkerboard. Then very carefully clip the saran wrap to protect every other square, then bleach out the other sqaures. Mine was a dark maroon and white. We let it go from tight checkerboard on one side to just lines on the other - kind of like that artist - of course I can't remember his name right now...good luck! Have fun with it! It grows back!

What is a good haircut style for long straight hair?
Q. I have longish straight hair and I want a new hairstyle, as in getting a haircut but a side part and something like tapered or side bangs idk any suggestions??

A. i have the perfect hair cut. my hair was also long, past my shoulders a year ago until i decided i wanted something new. i have the bowl cut with my longish bangs, the back is tappered and the rest of the hair is cut a little short same length all around my head. i died my bangs, from hazel, jet black, red etc. its a sexii cut so i always get told and i get alot of compliment. sometimes i slick the sides down with gel and a little of the back and leave the middle portion of my bangs and a little hair where my soft spot is and use a rubber band to hold it in place until my sides finish drying with a silk scarf wrapped around it. in 30mins or so i take the scarf off and curl the lose hair i pinned up and what do you know, a half mohawk which alot of people say is dashing. if you have a round baby kind of face this hair cut is perfect and on top of that EASY to maintain

How should I do my straight hair with a halter dress?
Q. I have fine, straight hair and I wondering what the best hairstyle would be with a halter dress. Thanks. (It's for a formal dance)

A. I would straighten it all frist.
piece by piece (2 inch each)
Once its completly straight, pull up your bangs, or just the strands in the front, and clip them with a very cute clip and, if you want, make them puffy. you do that by swisting the hair, and the pushing it forward.

Good luck!

How do you remove permanent hair dye from your hair?
Q. About 2 months ago I went to a salon and got my hair dyed brown with a few blonde high lights and it was ok for a while but then it started looking really red so u want to know how to just get all if it out. Help?

A. I am so glad I found your question because I know I can help you, and for those who are being rude, it's called education and knowledge, if you don't know, then don't be rude and answer so snidely. Anyhow my friend what you need is called a color remover or color corrector, and you can buy it at most beauty supply stores, and even walmart sells some but the one from walmart has very little product in it. A color remover or corrector works by removing the color pigments that were left in the hair by the hair dye, but it does not correct any lightening that may have taken effect due to the use of the peroxide developer, so once you remove it, if you do not like the color result afterward, then you will need to dye your hair again, and I recommend not bleaching for several days to a week should you decide to do that, because the correction can be harsh depending on the amount of pigment needing to be removed. In some cases you may need to do a few treatments. Anyhow, to give you an idea, I have found you one of the best ones on the Sally Beauty supply web site but you don't have to buy it online, you can go in person to any store that sells it. I am just posting the link to give you an idea of what it looks like. Best of luck to you and God Bless.

How much does it cost to get my hair dyed at a hairdressers?
Q. I want my hair platinum blonde. My hairs dyed dark brown at the minute, does anybody knows (In British pounds) how much it will cost to get my hair dyed professionally? Just a rough estimate because i'm trying to save up to get my hair done. :) Thanks. Best answer gets 10 points.

A. A good price is like 40 dollars.

How much would it cost to get my hair dyed?
Q. I have like caramel colored hair and I don't like it at all... So I want to get my hair dyed a chocolaty brown color with some reddish tint. And I think most hair salons charge you more with the longer of hair you have. My hair comes down about 2 inches past my shoulders, maybe a little bit longer. So how much would it cost to get my hair dyed?

A. it's also based on how thick it is, and if you have oily hair, or have dandruff, they'll shower your hair in a sink. and that'll cost more money. it also just depends on the salon or color. i think around $70-$85...

How many contacts on your list ever ask questions and how many answer your questions?
Q. I just noticed that I have only a few whoever ask questions and or answer questions. Is this the same for you too?

A. I hardly ever ask a question and when I see one of my Contacts post a question right away I will answer theirs. When one of them stars a question I usually go check it out and if I have anything to share I'll share but, mostly I go to give them a star. Many of them don't star or ask a question.

How do you manage young children when they ask questions about some embarrassing ads on television?
Q. How do you manage young children when they ask questions about some
embarrassing advertisement appear on television ?

For example, Sanitary napkin ads, condoms, etc, since small children always ask unanswerable questions.

Any hilarious experiences on this ?

Particularly how you manage such a situation

A. When my kids were small, the most embarrassing ads were for Preparation H and denture adhesive!
Nowadays, anything goes!

If the grandkids ask about an ad that is beyond them -- (they're 3 & 4) -- I just say "that is nothing that you need to be concerned with right now." They I try to direct their attention elsewhere.

What I find appalling is the violence and bad language -- especially the bad language that the little ones are exposed to on so many shows. The sexual innuendos go right over their heads. They sometimes find the violence frightening. But that bad language sticks in their vocabularies like Crazy Glue!

The only amusing story I can think of is onetime when my daughter and son, about 10 & 9, were watching an episode of "Designing Women." When the plot involved a gay bar, my son did not "get it." My daughter explained that there were bars for gay men and gay women. My son did not believe her. "Yeah, right!" he said. "And I guess next you are going to tell me that there are gay gas stations and gay grocery stores, too!"

I'd love to see 'em clean up the language on TV!

What products do you use when you want to dye your hair blonde without using a dye?
Q. I have red hair, and I want to dye my hair blonde for the summer. Should I use the product Sun-In? If not what other products "or natural remedes" can i use without dying my hair?

A. Bleach isnt as scary as the person before me makes it seem. If you havent used bleach before on your hair your stylist using it properly on you will cause minimal damage. Sun-in wont help, because you have red hair and it wont get rid of any warm tone.

How to dye my hair blonde without it becoming super dry?
Q. Is there a way I can dye my hair blonde so that it doesn't become really dry? Any advice would be appreciated!

A. My advice would be to go to a hairdresser and ask them for advice at least, if you don't want to pay them to do it. If you're okay paying the hairdressers to do it, then thats the best option. They know hair best.

If, however, you can't afford that or really want to do it yourself, it would help to know what colour your hair is currently, and what condition it's in too.

If you have a local hair supply shop, go in and ask them for advice. :)

How can I dye my hair blonde without using chemicals?
Q. I wanna dye my hair blonde, its black right now.. I DONT want to use chemicals though.

A. Constantly using dye kits and bleach to lighten your hair can result in damaged, dried-out locks that literally look like they've been fried. Sometimes it's best to rely on Mother Nature to give your hair a beautiful blonde shine without the risk of damage. There are a number of natural ways to turn your hair blonde without dye. Chamomile herbs and fresh-squeezed lemon juice are just two herbal and organic remedies that will naturally lighten your hair without ever applying any harsh chemicals or bleaches.

-Hope this helped :]

A. Braid the longer part of your hair (not the top layers) and run a straightener through it. Do it to both sides of your hair.
Tip: With hair extensions, if you are using heat, don't use any products.

Source(s):

How much does it cost to get your hair dyed?
Q. I want to get my hair dyed a reddish brown on top and light blond on bottom. How much would that cost. I go to the hair cuttery, and their website doesn't say.

A. 60 plus for all that is no "good" salon lol...^

It depends. Nice places are $150-$200, thats where I usually go I have no idea what the hair cuttery is but yeah you should call them. Cheaper places are normall about $80.

What should I wear with a black dress with white polka dots to make it look more 50's-ish?
Q. Dress is black up to knees, V neckline, short sleeve and has white polka dots. I have black ballerina flats...and was planning to add a red belt on the waist or maybe another color? I was also going to use red lipstick, should there be a pearl necklace/bracelet/earrings?, panty hose? if so what colors? anything else to achieve a 50's type style? What hairstyle should i wear? Name any accessories, colors, makeup, ideas etc. you think will help. thanks for the help!

note: im going to a party at school which is 50's themed.

A. oohhh, sounds like fun! I think you have it covered, a red belt would make a nice touch, with matching red lipstick! And the pearl necklace would be great too.
I think it would be cute to add a silky black 'scarf' and use it as a head band if you know what I mean. Tie it around your head and have the two ties hanging behind your head... part your hair on the side and add the head band.. you'll be the cutest one there!

Would this Haircut look good on a round face?
Q. http://www.sheknows.com/beauty-and-style/hairstyle-photo-gallery/medium-length-hairstyles/long-bob-with-razored-ends-and-side-swept-bangs-1

I have a round/oval face, and love this kind of haircut. i've heard that you shouldn't have shoulder length hair if you have a round face because it will make you look even rounder. is this true? thanks!

A. Yes of course, Well I hope you are ready for this because I have a lot, Now I am not a Hair Stylist or a Barber or an expert in that sense, But I am here to help by at least pointing you in the right direction to those who can, One of these ways is to show you a list of Yahoo Groups that specialize in various Hairstyles who do have people who do. I also have searched the Web for many of these answer in advance (Saving YOU the Time of doing the reaserch yourself).

How to convince religious mom to dye hair?
Q. I want to dye my hair red, I have light brown hair with natural blond highlights but I don't like it because I look like everyone else, even if I have a weird haircut.
Every time I ask, my mom says its "devilish" to dye hair.

Any help on trying to convince her?
I'm 14 years old.

A. how old are you. if you are a kid, then you need to abide by parents rules or move out if you dont like it.

edit*

ok dear, you are quite young and you do need to do what mom says. Just think you only have 4 more years of torture and then it is off to college..and then, you can do what you want..just be responsible.

Does anyone know of a good accounting website to help beginners understand terms?

Does the Religion and Spirituality section exist for everyone to discuss and answer religious questions?
Q. I could have sworn I had seen over twenty questions asking atheists and other nonreligious groups why they are here. If this is a answer website, and these people are answering questions, why does it matter? Maybe they are a little biased due to their religious and lack of religious beliefs but isn't good to have a open mind and to seek out answers without a censor sign over it? Why would you ask a question and not want the right answer, even if it may offend you?

A. Exactly! I answered a question like that just a few minutes ago:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgJ1ZUami7hLAUnKv3mIstHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20101001061322AA5lu7S&show=7#profile-info-Pq3ZuKaAaa

I told her:
"...just because I'm not religious doesn't mean I know nothing about religion. I am able to quote from the Bible, Torah and Qu'ran, I have studied religious books and poetry to a high standard AND I've visited the places of worship for a variety of different religions (including Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Gurdwaras). I also have an excellent education behind me, with an A* in Religious Studies at GCSE level."

I feel I am able to discuss religion much better than a lot of religious people. My ability to answer questions about religion has nothing to do with my personal beliefs - although if someone asks for my opinion, I'm always willing to give it.

What is the website that allows someone to answer questions regarding swine flu to check if they have it?
Q. I was recently watching the news and they mentioned a website created just for swine flu. It had a self checker where you answered questions about your symptoms. I would like to find it. I am feeling ill.

A. Don't waste your time. The symptoms of swine flu are so similar to the seasonal flu that your doctor cannot tell you if you have swine flu or seasonal flu at an exam. The doctor can make an educated guess based on the strain of flu that is circulating. To confirm whether it is really the swine flu the doctor has to send in a respiratory sample to the CDC. I've heard that they have stopped doing that.

The symptoms of swine flu are a sudden fever (a high body temperature of 38°C/100.4°F or above), and a sudden cough. You also may have: headache, tiredness, chills, aching muscles, limb or joint pain, diarrhea or stomach upset, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, or loss of appetite.

I've attached an article on how to treat swine flu and one on how to try to stay healthy. I hope that they are helpful to you. Feel better soon.

What hair product should I use to style my hair without it looking gelled or moused?
Q. I use mouse now and I have been for a while, i've seen some people with the same style hair as me but it doesnt even look like it has any product in it, i usually style something similair to a fohawk.

A. You can try a pomade. Walk into a salon and tell them the look you are going for. Any cosmetologist working there who can actually see and feel your hair will be able to make the best recommendations. After they suggest a product have them explain how to use it. You do not need to be having your hair done, to ask for advice or recommendations.
Good luck

What hair products do I need to style my hair without making my hair crispy?
Q. Any suggestions or personal experience would help. If you wouldn't mind stating what products you use and what style hair you have that would be great. I personally want my hair kind of messy but I want it to hold without being hard.

A. I have straight hair, but i curl it, and put it in many hard to hold positions.

I recommend Dove Flexible Hold, it doesnt make your hair go as hard as any other hairspray! I love it and have used it for 1 1/2 years. It also smells so fresh and natural!

You'll love it!

How do i get scene style hair?
Q. i'm wondering how to get scene style hair, but fromthe pics i've scene it looks like not many of thwm have short hair.so the real question is how do i get short scene hair. i'm going to be scene cuz that's what i like but i dont want to be a poser.what should i do?

A. first bring a picture of short scene hair to your hairstylist...one of these is good..:
http://media.photobucket.com/image/short%20scene%20hair/btmrocks1/thscene_hair.jpg?o=1
http://media.photobucket.com/image/short%20scene%20hair/ladydog2006/short%20scene%20hair/hair656.jpg?o=7
http://media.photobucket.com/image/short%20scene%20hair/elizabethwalker09/Short_Black_Scene_Hair.jpg?o=20

then go out and buy a teasing comb:
http://www.manicure4u.co.uk/images/6029.JPG
you can get them at any beauty supply store just ask for one

then buy hairspray..you need EXTRA STRENGTH hairspray trust me i have 6 bottles and i only use one because i had to test all the other ones so use tresemme tres two extra hold(i got it at target)
http://www.tresemme.com/classic-styling/products/tres-two-extra-hold-hairspray.aspx

also you need to get hair bows! i buy mine at claires at the mall

now you are ready to get your scene hair but if you dont want to look like a poser then after you get your hair cut dont tease it for like a week then start teasing it..
# Spray the hair with an aerosol hairspray first and let it dry.

# Using a rattail comb or other fine toothed comb, and part off a section of hair from the rest of the strands. Many women tease their bang section, so if thats what you're doing, leave bangs down only. Clip the rest of your hair out of the way. Smaller sections work best and will provide for tighter and longer lasting hold.

# Hold the hair strand straight up with one hand while you hold your comb with the other hand. Comb (or stroke) the hair strand from the ends of your hair down towards the scalp. Repeat this until all the hair looks teased. The backcombed strand should feel thicker than the rest of your hair. Spray the section with hairspray and go on to the next section.

# If you want a more uniform and long lasting style, hold the new section so that when you tease hair you are actually grabbing a small piece from the last section. This will prevent "holes" in your hair style.

# When all your hair is teased, take a soft natural bristled brush and gently smooth the hair down. Take care to not brush too hard since you only want to smooth the very top layer.

# Finish your style with a flexible hair spray or a freeze spray, depending on how long you want your style to last. Add a touch of spray shine or shine product to smooth any stray hairs.

*If you want your hair to stand up at the roots, another way to get them to cooperate and achieve this is to:

1) Decide which hair sections you want to lift up. (i.e. bangs)

2) Spray the roots with either freeze hairspray or use a apply a firm holding gel or mousse on the roots.

3) Holding your hair straight up by the ends, use the low control on your blow dryer and dry the roots that you sprayed with hairspray or applied gel or mousse to.

This will freeze your roots in the upright position. You won't have to tease hair to get it to lift. This will also hold for hours if the air around you isn't too humid. The more humidity in the air, the less time the effect will last.

and ta-da you are scene hope i helped

I'm a female who wants to get a haircut in a barbershop. Will a barber cut a women's hair?
Q. I wear my hair short but want to go even shorter. I would like the back and sides to be clippered and the top to be slightly longer and think I will get a better cut in a barbershop. Ladies salons don't really specialise in very short cuts and I want it to be sharp. The problem is I've never been inside a barbershop before and I'm a little nervous. Do most barbers cut womens hair? Are you afemale who gets her hair cut in a barbershop and are you happy with the results?

A. My mother always got her hair done in the barber-shop, and she loves it. She wears her hair super short and she loves how they do it at the barber-shop.

If you are nervous about it, check out a place that has uni-sex cuts, or find a woman who works in the barber-shop to do your cut.

Best of luck, Sweets.

When is the best time of year to dye hair blonde?
Q. I would like to dye my hair blonde, My hair stylist said It is not the time of year to do it. When is the time of year? I would really like to do it and would like to know when I should be planning to do it...
Currently I have brown hair with blonde highlights....

A. That is funny.. but i would say summer.. you wanna be bright in the summer so blonde and red in the fall and dark in the winter.. but if you did that to your hair every 3 months your hair would be super damaged.. what color is your hair now? if you wanna go blonde start putting in highlights you dont wanna go blonde over night .. or you will have really damaged hair.

What is the best way to do my hair for school?

Q. I have been just letting my hair out this whole month in school but I am getting bored of it. Is there any ideas of how I should make my hair look better and any ideas of how I should wear out my hair at school?

A. School isn't a formal place so no need to go using a straightner or curler every day. I change my hairstyle every day. I change it up. Here are several simple style I do:
-Low ponytail
-High ponytail
-Ballerina type bun
-Messy bun
-Old fashion braid
-Fish tail braid(one of my favourites)
-Take a shower the night before then braid your hair while it's still wet, then when you wake up in the morning take the braid off and your hair will have slight waves
-Take a shower in the morning and blow dry your hair to have it a pretty natural straight or straighten it with a straightner for a stick straight look(stick straight hair doesn't go well on me at all so if your like me, stick with the blow drying way of straightning it.)
-Twisted ponytail(I don't know the real name). My friend taught me it. You basically tie up a normal ponytail, it's way easier if you do it on a low ponytail because it's looser. You then create a opening in the part between the hairband and scalp, and then pull the ponytail through it going from on top then pull down. Pull it tight then try to hide the hairband when your hair and ta-da. It looks really nice. --- I was looking on google images to find a picture of it to show you and I just found out it actually is called a twisted ponytail. Anyways, here are some pictures:

Can you give me some tips about mohawks?
Q. I will shave my sides bald soon and leave the middle 6 inches (you might have read that in my last question).I wanna know does it look good if the mohawk is long and the sides are bald.I also wanna know do i have to shave my sides every week (i don't want the sides to grow much-i want them too be extremely short). So does it have another way for the sides to stay short without trimming them?

A. Hello Bruno,

Another way to sport a Mohawk without having to be constantly shaving the sides is the FauxHawk. Here, you leave the sides and back at any other length than shaved and the crest is normally kept up to 2 inches in length. You can read more about it here:

http://www.manlycurls.com/2012/01/faux-hawk-hairstyle-men-curly-hair/

If you are into shaving your head and leaving hair on top, give the Recon hairstyle a go too, it's pretty cool though not as extreme as the Mohawk:

Hope that helped!

Can I dye my hair from brown back to blonde?
Q. About two months ago, I dyed my hair, which is naturally a dirty blonde to light brown color, dark brown. It lightened to a medium brown and is getting lighter with all the summer weather. What should I do to get it to either a dark or a golden blonde? I dye it myself at home.

A. Without risks? You can't.
Google Salon Hair Dye Lawsuits. About 336,000 results (0.17 seconds) Dec. 2011
When it comes to hair care treatments, product use or visits to a salon or spa, the consumer must take responsibility to do their homework and be aware of all the risks involved.

Vanessa Minnillo Lachey: "I dated a guy once who wanted me to have blonde hair. Clearly, he was the wrong guy for me! I went to a lady who bleached my hair and it literally fell out. So, not only did I go back to my natural hair, I broke up with the guy!"

One example: MY HAIR DRESSER DYED MY HAIR GREY. I've been crying for the last 2 hours, I want to kill that bish for destroying what was amazing bleach blonde hair. AND to make things worse, she cut my extensions WAY too short.

"23 years old Rihanna is well known for changing her hairstyle and hair colour on a regular basis and it looks as though all those treatments have finally begun to take their toll on her mane and perhaps her common sense." US Showbiz 2-18-12 Rihanna has reportedly paid $23,500 for an emergency haircut after hers was ruined in a sauna, to fly out hair stylist from L.A. to London..The Province 3-1-12.
A WOMAN was temporarily blinded when her face swelled up "like a football" following what she told was a severe reaction to hair dye.
Carmen Rowe, 25, from Swansea was hospitalised for three days after using the Clairol 'Nice n' Easy' natural black colour. She said: "I lost my job, all for the sake of a glamorous hairstyle. I just want to warn parents what could happen." She claimed she carried out a skin test 48 hours before using the dye without a problem and has been colouring her hair since she was 13. March 3, 2012.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloween party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Its made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Its well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. 11-22-11. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND.

Will modeling agencies pay for their models' cosmetic procedures?
Q. If you are signed to a modeling agency, will they pay for procedures to make you (their product) more appealing? Like hair removal, acne scar treatment, tanning, things like that? Just curious, if you have experience in the modeling industry and know anything about it let me know! Thanks!

A. If you're modeling, for cosmetics, they do that.

If you're AUDITIONING, you do your own makeup.

If you're doing a job, they do your makeup. Some people who hire models, HAVE A SPECIFIC HAIRSTYLE, MAKEUP, CLOTHING they want you to wear, and that's NOT YOUR JOB, they have staff to do you - top to bottom

FYI: Watch America's Next Top Model or SCOUTED a new reality show.
In Vogue UK now 13-14 year old models. But there's a documentary "Girl Model" too young, too thin on Vogue models, shown at SXSW and the Toronto International Film festival, highlights the search and scouting of young girls in the modeling industry. Teen models have no clue what they're getting themselves into. They're naive. They get free food, free alcohol, they are forced into prostitution, too many abuses, sexual, physical, emotional you just can't believe.
http://theminaretonline.com/2012/04/06/article21987

I went to a Charm & Poise school, when I was in HS in hopes to land a modeling job someday . . . and that's something I carried with me all my life. Some agencies don't give you jobs! I thought I was a model material, until they used me for extra in a movie and modeled once for hair, and realized I don't want anyone fuzzing with me top to bottom and are 'forced to wear and dress like a clown."

What happens if you straighten your hair too much?
Q. I heard that it is bad to straighten hair with a flat iron, but what happens? Also, what hair style cut with look good with a dirty blond with thick, and at parts, wavy hair. I don't like the wave nor the thickness.... Right now it is past my shoulders. I normally wear pony tails, because i don't like it down. any tips?

A. Any prolonged heat styling will do damage to the hair. It strips the natural moisture, which is less abundant at the ends, which of course produces more split-ends and flyaways. Be sure to use products that contain no alcohols, deep condition on a regular basis, trim the ends every 6-8 weeks, and if possible, use a high quality flat-iron with ceramic plates. They are more expensive, but well worth the price.

There are a few things you can do with your style. If you like the length, you can either get a body wave (a type of perm, but w/ loose curls and not leaving you like a poodle), or there is chemical straightening. I wouldn't reccommend the chemical straightening because it can be a lot more stressing on the hair, especially with you being blonde. they are generally done more on people with african descent who have much coarser hair. Or, you can shorten the length. Perhaps you have too much weight pulling downward on your tresses which straightens out the natural wave you may have. Remember that by lightening the weight, you will have a little more curl and volume than you may be used to. If you do this, you'll need to also put in some layers and maybe even some undercutting. Also, with less hair to deal with, straightening won't be such a long task. good luck

What are hair styles to do with short hair?
Q. I have short hair with a side bang and can just get it into two ponytails on the side. Please don`t just say to put accesories for my hair because I don`t have any besides bobby pins and hair clips. What are hair styles to do with short hair?

A. If you have hair curlers or straighteners, you can try different styles by curling/straightening your hair. A simpler style could be to just pin your bangs back/up to the side. If you opt to cross two pins to make an "X", it will look pretty and be more secure.

You can also braid your hair.

You could braid one on either side of your head, or just braid one side- french braid or normal braids are both cute. If you do french braids, you could try to braid your bangs into it too, or just french braid to make it look like you have a braided hairband on.

Another braid that you could do is the kind that you braid so that it lies parallel to the ground. Like, it's a horizontal line across the side of your head. I don't know what's the name of that hairstyle but I think it's quite nice.

Is it possible for you to braid two ponytails, since you say you can tie your hair into two ponytails on the side? It's pretty much the same style, but braiding does a great deal of difference. :)

You can either choose to tie the ends of pin the ends of the braids. For example, if you braid two small braids on either side of your head, you can pull them to the back, overlap them, and fasten them either a pin or tie them together. Or, you can just pin them to the side of your head and not pull them all the way to the back to overlap them.

But if you don't want to braid, you can always choose to twist your hair and pin it down. That works the same. :)

How to straighten hair thats only a few inches long?
Q. I am new to the whole hair straightener concept, especially for guys it can be weird. But, I was wondering if there was a way to straighten hair the correct way. I have a decent straightener and used it for my bangs. I am going for the scene style but not so hardxcore.

I am having trouble with the straightener because it burns when i lay it against my forehead ..lol. Now my hair is sticking up in a horizontol fashion instead of down. My hair is only like 2 inches long! The straightener barely runs threw the strands of hair. How can I overcome this?

Any ways or styles to go about the hair straightener in a fashionable sense?

I use hair glue, but sometimes my hair looks caked any tips on this also?

A. you should wash your hair with a srtaightening shampoo n conditioner...like paul mitchell super skinny...n try to blow dry it straight...like in the direction you want it do go...
