What is the best way to get wavy hair from straight hair?

Q. I have pretty straight hair that is sort of wavy if I let it air dry (but doesn't look very good). I really want an easy way to make it beachy wavy without having to do much work. Anyone have ideas?

A. use brilliant brunette, or the blonde kind, its called starlit waves. i have really straight hair and it works great for me. you could use it on damp hair the night before then lightly spray some overtop the next morning and slightly finger comb your hair. or in the morning have a shower towel dry hair but so its still moist, brushhair spray the wave stuff and scrunch just a bit. air dry or diffuse and your good to go

How do I get straight hair to stay curly or wavy?
Q. I have naturally straight hair and have been trying everything to get it to stay wavy or curly. I will finally get looking natural and nice beach waves but within an hour they fall flat. Is there anything I can do about this?

A. Hey I have very straight, thick hair so when I curl it it falls out pretty quick. I have found recently though that if I use John Frieda's Curl Reviver from the Frizz-Ease collection when my hair is damp the curl holds a lot longer and the hair looks natural. I also use Wella Firm Hold hair spray after I have created each curl and because sometimes hairspray can make hair look fake and sorta of hard I spray the curl, gently brush through it so it doesn't lose it's shape and then gently respray again. I went out a few weeks ago after doing this and my curls stayed perfect all night and looked really natural and everyone said I looked really nice in the pictures. Hope I helped =)

Also I usually use a straightener to curl my hair because I don't think curlers work as well on me. Also if you're wanting the beachy look divide your hair into 4 plaits, 2 either side of the head (with wet hair) and allow it to dry. Then go over the plaits with the straighteners and also hair spray each braid and leave to cool and this will make sure the hair stays wavy longer.

How come alot of people think that straight hair is boring?
Q. I have straight hair, but it has layers and side bangs. It looks so cute, however some friends of mine always suggest for me to curl or wave it because it would look better.

A. straight hair has come back...yeah. look at all the stars, with their natural straight hair. i used to perm mine and it just ruined my hair. i went back to my straight hair and it is very healthy, most important, i'm happy with it. keep your hair the way it is. i think this is the best, and don't let peer pressure get in the way of how you really feel....your present style sounds GREAT!

Is there a way to achieve straight hair without a straightening perm?
Q. Is there any way to achieve straight hair, that looks like you've had a straightening perm (or it's called Japanese Straightening or something) but without actually having the perm?

I've already attempted flat ironing it..it's slightly straighter, but still very wavy. It goes back to normal after washing, so it just gets even more damage every time I straighten it.My hair is long, thick, and wavy.

A. Yeah, everytime you straighten your hair, youre damaging it. So if you really want straight hair everyday, Id dish out the money to have it professionally straightened. It will save you tons of time and stress on your hair.

How can i make my straight hair wavy?

Q. I have very straight hair that is really stubborn. I want a product that I can put in my hair when its wet and scrunch it. Im going for that beach crimp kind of look.
I want my hair to remain flexible and not the crunchy hairspray feel.

If anyone knows a product that does this, and actually WORKS please let me know!
Thanks!

A. omg, i know exactly what to do!
trust me okay, i have straight hair too.
okay do this...
after u take a shower, braid your hair.
separate your hair into two section, and french braid your hair starting at the top and working your way to the bottom.
leave it like that all night, u don't need any product in your hair until the next day.
whenever u wake up, unbraid your hair, and put mousse, and some hairspray, and BAM!
beachy wavy hair!
it's really awesome, u should really trust me on this.

How do I get my naturally straight hair curly in not a lot of time?
Q. I have naturally straight hair but sometimes like to change it up and do my hair curly. However, it mostly just curls at the bottom then flattens as the day goes on when I just use a curler. I also don't have a lot of time in the morning to do a lot of work on my hair. Any ideas?

A. I have naturally SUPER straight hair and I take a shower and twist my hair around a pen or pencil with wet hair and that usually curls it OR you could take a shower the day before and then when your hair is still kindda damp tie them up into braids<high> and then sleep on them the next day un-tie them and they shud be curly. Glad I could help!

Are there ways to have super straight hair when your hair is already straight?
Q. i have straight hair, but sometimes i feel like i want it to be really straight. does straightening your hair when your hair is already straight make it straighter....or does it just do nothing?

A. Relaxing products and a straightening iron will turn your average straight hair into limp and smooth locks. Your results would be better than those of people with naturaly wavey or curled hair.

I know that people will respond to this with "your hair is already straight, stupid head!" but I know where you're coming from. Having straight hair doesn't mean that you have that lovely, waterfall silk smooth mane that looks like it's made of glass. Play with products and consult with stylists.

How can I make my naturally straight hair to be wavy?
Q. I have naturally straight hair and it doesnt do ANYTHING. I can never make it wavy. I would love to have beach waves in my hair. I dont like to scrunch because it gets all hard and crunchy. Its so hard to deal with, its so boring. Always straight. I wish it were like a miley cyrus wavy. If you have any tips please help! I've tryed so many things and it never helps.

A. I know how you feel! I have the exact same problem. My hair is super straight and it goes straight pretty quickly, even after I use a curler on it.

The easiest solution for me is to sleep with my hair in braids or a bun overnight, or just leave it in a bun for a couple of hours. That gives it a nice, natural looking wave.
Another way that I make my hair look less boring is by pinning it back with cute pins like this:

It actually looks really cute, even with my boring, straight hair!

Good luck!

What is the best scrunching product for poker straight hair?
Q. Hi,

I have naturally poker-straight hair, and I really want to be able to get those scrunched-in waves (y'know, without any heat). What is the best product to do this? I've heard that Herbal Essences Totally Twisted is good, but I think that might be for people who have a natural curl?

Thanks in advance,

Andie :)

A. Hi,

If you have naturally poker straight hair, then you're not going to be able to scrunch your hair to get a decent wave in it. If you don't want to use heat, then sleep in big sponge rollers overnight - that will give you the wave you're looking for.

How to get an afro with straight hair?

Q. I want to get an afro with straight hair. Should I use rollers? Describe the process.

A. Well my guess would be takeing your hair and teasing
It, but the trick to it is getting all the tangles out and then start doing it, and if your hair is anything like mine, steam will make it poof more.

Hope I helped...

A. Absolutely not, not all black women use them and they aren't the only race
that prefers to straighten their hair...it there's a diversity of women/occasionally guys
