How to cut your own hair... read the details before you answerrr?
Q. So fora while i have wanted to grow my hair long and grow my sidebangs out , but nowi kind if want to give myself front bangss . First off , i dont know how to cut them so i need help with that! And idk what to do if i dont like them ..should i do it?

A. First of all, if you are not confident about doing this and it would really bother you if something went wrong then please, please, please just ask a hairdresser.
I can describe how it's done and I can even show you a video which has a good demonstration but if you decide to try it for yourself then please take care and if in doubt ask a hairdresser rather than take the risk.
Standard disclaimer sort of stuff here but I can't take responsibility if it goes horribly wrong ^-^;;

Ok that said, just so I'm clear on this, you have side bangs which you've grown out but now you want them straight across?

1) If that's the case then first thing you need to do is find where your hair naturally parts, just brush it and let it fall naturally, you then want to brush a section forward until your bangs have the desired thickness covering across your forehead.

2) When you have sectioned off a part that you want, slide your fingers down through your hair so that the section you want to cut (your bangs) is pushed forward.

3) Use a comb to get a straight line so that it's even on both sides. You want your hair to form and inverted 'Y' shape as a parting line. Tie the rest of your hair back so only the bangs section remains.

4) Now dampen the hair (you don't have to but it does make it easier to see the real length and get a straighter cut) and use a comb to pull the bangs section straight and then take a pair of scissors and carefully nip little inverted 'V' shapes into the bang line until it is even and the desired length.

5) In the video she also cuts the hair at the sides, if you want to do this then you are aiming to make a 'V' shape with your hair, cutting from each side of the hair towards the middle of the section getting progressively longer as you go. Do not use the scissors to cut the hair, just pull the hair straight, hold it in place and run the blade of the scissors down at an angle, they will thin the hair out as they cut and make it fall more naturally.

As for whether or not it will suit you. Straight bangs suit a certain face shape a lot better than others. If you have a long and thin face, a face that's rounded or an oval face then stay away from them, they really will not look good. Straight bangs really require a more squared jaw or a heart-shaped face.

Good Examples
Heart Shape Face - Cheekbones are significantly wider than chin/jawline and forehead.

Squared Jaw - The face is shorter and the chin has less descent, the lower jaw is more prominent near the ears.

Bad Examples

Oblong or Oval Face - The face is long and egg shaped with the widest point at the cheekbones and drawing in towards the forehead and chin on either end. Straight bangs frame the face and if you have an oval face then it will only cause it to look longer and more exaggerated than it is.

Rectangular - The face is pretty evenly distributed with a similar width throughout. Straight bangs will cause the area beneath the chin to be exaggerated and the cheekbones will be over-shadowed. It has the effect of overly-masculinizing a face.

Inverted Triangle - The face is widest at the forehead and draws towards a point on the chin. Straight bangs will make the chin look even smaller and the face will become drawn.

Face shapes that can wear straight bangs: Round, Square, Triangular, Diamond, Heart
Face shapes that can't wear straight bangs: Oblong, Oval, Rectangular, Inverted Triangle

Does anyone have hairstyle Ideas for me?
Q. I have really long hair (2 6 inches... literally)and I want to do a new hairstyle because I never do anything with my hair. My hair is also brown and I have no bangs, but I used too. (by the way i'm 12 in 7th grade and really tall) I need something perfect! Thanks :]
I need hairstyles, because I've been experimenting for as long as I know. But none of them really fit my personality.
